San Diego

Well we are in San Diego now and I am enjoying being in America so much. It is a little overwhelming, we went to Target the first night and I was kind of disoriented. I wound up not buying much because I couldn't figure out what everything was! We spent our second day here shopping also, Nordstrom rack, Sax's, Ikea and Barnes and Noble. Oh Barnes and Noble!!! it was so wonderful. People were looking at me like I was insane. I spent so long in the craft section I almost cried. I bought a great quilting book and Kaivon saw a book that made us think of Laura, it was 100 crafts with gloves. I can imagine Christa2 and Laura filling there baskets at the 100 yen store now with gloves =). Yesterday we went to the San Diego Zoo. Oh wow, was it wonderful. I have never seen a better zoo. We went and watched the WORST MOVIE last night, a children's movie called Coraline. I am actually a huge fan of Neil Gamin the author, but boy was it bad. Visually stunning, but god the movie was bad, avoid if possible. I miss everyone but America is so great!!!!

Not so sure now.....

I started working on an Americana wall hanging a week ago and now that my blocks are cut and sewn and ironed well, I don't know...  Now I am not so sure I like it, or even what I was originally going for?  Do I scrap it and start with something else, or finish it and give it to a relative who will appreciate the effort and that it is home made?

New Scrap Page

I have been slacking with my scrapbooking recently.  Amaya had a class project this week that was a life timeline.  So as we went through all our scrapbooks and photo albums I noticed the abundance of picture that still need to be scrapped.  Pictures that were put into albums temporarily and forgotten.  The age three scrapbook only had one page!!!  So time to get back to work and get inspired.  I am set to work on some picture this weekend and have already gotten out a bunch of supplies from my scrap closet to work with.  But I couldn't help scrapping this picture when I saw it.  This shows Amaya to the T, she loves nothing better then having her face painted, where ever we are if there is a face painter I know we will be in line.  I used groovey lines paper, paint, chipboard and flowers to add a "busy" look to the page.

New Quilt

Here are some pictures of the new fabric I have cut out.  I am trying a quilt on my own, maybe just a wall hanging, but I am trying.  I am going for a patriotic Americana feel with some great fabric I bought at crafty things on base.  I cut 3x3 squares and mixed and matched.  Now the question is whether to make blocks, or one large collage and frame it with a red fabric?

MY first Quilting Class

The finished product
Lenea hard at work
So proud of what I am doing

Oh, I had so much fun, I love Barbie the quilting teacher.  She might be the most patient person I have ever met.  She was so patient and encouraging of Lenea and I and made us feel totally at ease.  We learned how to measure, cut and sew our pattern together.  I did not get to finish in the class but Christa 2 will help me get it together.  Big shout out to my husband Kaivon for watching Amaya today so I could have mommy alone time!!!

Who wouldn't love quilting?

Today I went with Christa 2 to the fabric store, oh that may have been a mistake. I sense a serious addiction on the horizon. They had the most wonderful fabric ever. They even had this great broccoli fabric, you had to see it. I picked up 10 different pieces for my crazy heart quilt. Super excited for quilting with Lenea on Saturday. I was starting to overdose on pinks and reds, so Christa suggested another color. First we tried brown, then green, but they just didnt look right. Then I saw the cutest little yellow with pink birds and I was in love, so yellow it was. I picked out two more yellow fabrics. I can not wait to see what it looks like when I am done!!!
